Bio

Spouse: Married to Dovey Pendleton The Carlsbad Argus Friday February 8, 1918 Ed Robinson, who is well known by many people in Carlsbad, having hauled wood to Carlsbad from the mountains for several years died at the Eddy County Hospital, Wednesday afternoon of pneumonia. He was removed from his room in one of the hotels to the hospital Tuesday, and rapidly grew worse until death relieved him of his suffering. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with interment in City Cemetery. It is understood the deceased leaves a brother and sister who reside in the Northern part of New Mexico, as well as a brother in Carlsbad, who have the deep sympathy of friends. The Evening Current Thursday February 7, 1918 Last Page Ed Robinson -- On Wednesday afternoon at five o'clock, Ed Robinson passed quietly away from this world, at the County Hospital. Ed, a friend to every man in town, had been taken ill last Friday night, and went into a coma from which he never recovered. He had been staying at the Missouri Hotel, but Tuesday was moved to the County Hospital for better care and attention. Friends from the mountains, realizing his serious condition, phoned to his brother, Lee Robinson, at Capitan, and the latter hurriedly drove to Roswell, where he completed the journey by local freight and car from Lakewood, reaching his brother's bedside just an hour before death. Interment will be in the City Cemetery, Saturday afternoon, at three o'clock, and the services will be conducted by the Rev. H.W. Lowry. Messages have been sent to two brothers, John at Rising Star, Texas and Will at Patterson, NM. It is hoped that either one, or both, will be able to attend. Ed Robinson was nearly fifty-two years of age. He was born in Winsboro, South Carolina and at an early age moved to Arkansas. In 1889 he married Dovey Pendleton, who died within the year. Ed soon after moved to Eastland County, Texas and later to Fisher, coming to New Mexico and Eddy County in the winter of 1897 with Ed Middleton and Family. Since then he has always lived in Carlsbad or the vicinity, at one time owning large goat interests in the Guadalupes. In 1911 he sold his goats, and since that time has been engaged in teaming, his outfit being one of the best known on the mountain roads out of Carlsbad. He was a friendly and affable gentleman, with a word of greeting to his comrades, who were legion. The Current wishes his soul god-speed. Special thanks to Cindy for finding all this.
