Bio

Born in Marion County, Tennessee to Callie Layne and John David Griffith. One brother Clarence L. Prior to World War II, Oden served in the US Navy from 1937 to 1941 aboard the US Navy Hospital Ship, USS Relief. With the outbreak of World War II he enlisted in the US Army October 20, 1942 and served to wars end. Married Catherine Lula Hawkins of Shelby County in Arlington, Virginia, February 1946. Three children, stepson Jack Hawkins, daughters Sammie Lou and Jo. Oden passed of a brain tumor at the Shelby Regional Hospital, Center at the age of 66. He and Catherine rest in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. Day is done, God is nigh.
