Born in Center, Texas in 1895 to Simeon and Jane Ann Jordan-Campbell, he grew up on a farm with five siblings. June 5, 1917, Edward as did many young men across the nation registered for the World War I draft. He took the oath of enlistment one year later in Center, Texas and was assigned to the 67th Infantry Regiment, Camp Sheridan, Alabama where he stayed until being honorably discharged on February 11, 1919. He was awarded the World War I Victory Medal and the honorable discharge lapel pin. He returned to the life of a farmer in Shelby County and on August 3rd, 1919 he and Miss Nora Lee Lightfoot were wed. They became poultry farmers and raised two sons, Vance Weldon and Edward Donese. In April 1942 Mr. Campbell registered for the World War II draft in Center. He passed at the Veterans Hospital in Houston, Texas on June 25th, 1957 from a malignant tumor and now rests with wife Nora in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.
