Bio

Services for Harry Edward Arthur, 84, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. James Haney. Interment will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Arthur died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003. He was born on Aug. 28, 1919 to the late Lula and Cecil Arthur in West, Texas. He moved to Lubbock from Japan in 1960. He married Clemettie Annie Snyder on Aug. 18, 1944 in Boston, Mass. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1975. He then married Nelda Stanfield on Aug. 22, 1986 in Lubbock. He graduated from West High School and Texas Tech University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as associate director of textile research at Texas Tech University. Harry didnt have an enemy in the world and was always there with a funny story, a smile or a helping hand. He was a member of Masonic lodge #1392 and St. Christophers Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Nelda of Lubbock; two daughters, Ann Arthur Kingston of Wichita Falls, Texas and Jan Arthur Harrell of Houston; two step sons, David Stanfield of Roundrock, Texas and Perry Stanfield of Pflugerville, Texas; two brothers, Jack Arthur of Waco, Texas and James Arthur of West, Texas; a step brother, Robert Arthur of Katy, Texas; five step sisters, Neva R. Skrabanek and Martha J. Green, both of Fredericksburg, Texas, Carolyn Ivy of Fairfield, Texas, Sylvia Glimp of Burnet, Texas and Mozelle Cooper of Gladewater, Texas; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
