Bio

Walter, 86 and Bernice Divin, 79, of La Grange, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at their residence in La Grange, Texas. Walter was born in Ellinger, Texas on August 1, 1925, the son of the late Emil and Julia (Kocian) Divin. Bernice was born in La Grange, Texas on December 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Joe and Matilda (Sulak) Zbranek. Walter and Bernice were married on November 23, 1952 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum, Texas. Walter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a Welder until retirement. Bernice worked as a Cashier at Winns Department Store for many years. Walter is survived by a brother, Leslie Divin of Sugarland and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice is survived by a sister, Rosalie Kollaja of El Campo; niece, Betty Regan of Buda; two nephews: Edward Kollaja of Stafford and David DeMarco and wife Catherine of La Grange. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Bennie, Arnold and Harry Divin. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Bennie, Edwin and Jerry Zbranek; and two sisters-in-law: Bessie and Martha Zbranek. Visitation 1 p.m. Sunday at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, La Grange. Rosary 9:30 a.m. and services 10 a.m. Monday, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Plum. Burial Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
