Bio

Donald Clinton "Don" Kubricht, DDS was born May 10, 1939 in Houston, Texas to John J. and Lydia Tobola Kubricht. He graduated from Wallis High School in 1957 and the University of Texas in 1963. It was on June 23, 1963 that he married Elizabeth Ann Vitek and they settled in Navasota where Don began to practice dentistry and later retired after 48 years. Don had numerous passions---golf, woodworking, golf, fishing, gardening and more golf. He loved the community that supported him and his family and in return he gave so much back in ways that many will never know. But that didn't matter to Don because he didn't do it for the recognition; he did it because it was in his heart to do it. A longtime member of the Navasota Evening Lions Club, Don was involved in numerous projects from fund raising to various park projects. He held life time memberships with the Grimes County Fair Association as well as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Don was a charter member of the Navasota Knights of Columbus Council 9367and was a 4th Degree member of the St. Joseph Assembly of the Knights of Columbus of Brenham. An Eagle Scout, Don was a former scout master in Navasota. Don was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church and with the help of his good friend, John Walla, built the Tabernacle table in the sanctuary and helped in countless ways over the years in the parish. The Grimes County Chamber of Commerce bestowed Don the Citizen of the Year award for all he had done for the community. One area of his life that most do not know about is his work with Freedom Hill in Brenham and Alcoholics Anonymous. He donated extraordinary amounts of time to help those in need of dental work, of course, at no cost to them. AA changed his life forever, and with this group and his strong faith in God, he was able to "carry his cross". Don was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John M. Kubricht and a grandson, Michael Maston Sangl. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Kubricht of Navasota; his pride and joy, two beautiful daughters, Meribeth Kubricht Shimshack and husband Mark of Navasota and Pamela Kay Kubricht Sangl and husband Mike of Spring; grandchildren, Kinsey Elizabeth Shimshack Stutts and husband Bill "Bumper", Kenton Thomas Shimshack , Allison Faith Sangl and Lane Ralston Sangl; sisters-in-laws, Lois Vitek Maxwell and husband Roy of Richwood and Lou Vitek Hodge of Tomball; brother-in-law, Edward Vitek and wife Kathy of Ft. Worth along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and a great number of friends.
