Mr.Schneider,at 41 one of the most progressive and active farmers in this area, succumbed at 7:30 o'clock Friday in the Weimar Hospital, ending a series of illness that began back in December when he had the mumps. He had become partially paralyzed in January, and on May 17 had been operated on for the removal of a brain tumor. He spent two months in Hermann Hospital in Houston before being transferred to the hospital here where he died. Herbert Leo Schneider was born June 14,1910,on a farm near Weimar where he spent his entire life, and where his father, the late Ferdinand H. Schneider, had also been born. His mother was the former Miss Annie Berger.A leader in modern farming methods,he combined them with hard work and common sense to become a successful farmer in every way.In his death the community has lost a valuable citizen. He was a member and former deputy grand knight of the Weimar council,Knights of Columbus and member of St. Joseph's Society.A musician all his life and member of the K. of C. Band,it was his request that there be band music at his funeral, and his request was fulfilled.
