Bio

Peggy Jane Moore was born in 1839, in Pike County, Illinois, to Jacob and Polly Burns Moore. There were several siblings in the family including, H. William, George Thomas, Temperance R. (Bryant), Nancy C., (Allison), Francis Marion, Josepheus Van Buren, Luthera (Cox), and Mary Ann. Sometime before the 1860 Census was taken many members of this family including Jacob and Polly Burns Moore, moved their family to Dallas County, Texas. Many of the Moore family remained in that county of Texas for the rest of their lives. Peggy Jane Moore died on 31 October 1848, and was buried in the French Cemetery. In ca 1980s I made a trip to Pike County, Illinois and found her grave site which had a hugh cedar tree growing over it. It was very difficult to take a picture of the stone. I am sure there are other members of the family buried in the French Cemetery.
