Bio

Funeral services for Mr. Glen Birt Horton will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Reverends Leland Briggs and Bruce Maxwell officiating. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Gardens, Pollock, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Mr. Horton, age 96, of Pollock, entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Grace Home in Alexandria. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad after 32 years as a Railroad Bridge Foreman. He attended Bentley Pentecostal Church. He will be remembered as a giving person, often providing vegetables to the community and was often called "Farmer". He is preceded in death by his wife, Virgin Maybelle Wiley Horton; parents, Gordon and Julia Horton; three sisters, Hazel May Barringer, Reba Cleo Howard and Maggie Verniece Whittle. He is survived by four sons, Jerry Sanders of Benton, Arkansas, George Sanders of Pollock, Jimmy Horton of Dallas, Texas and Gordon Horton of Pineville; three daughters, Patricia Acosta of Austin, Texas, Millie McGee of Longview, Texas and Rita Ball of Pollock; one brother, Windell Horton of Rosewood, Texas; one sister, Wanda Sims of Winnsboro, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
