Graveside services for Louise Henry Stripling, 77, of Huntington, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile. Mrs. Stripling was born October 24, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the later Lena Merle (Mooney) and Frank Henry. She passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 in a local nursing facility. Mrs. Stripling was a very loving mother. She raised 6 boys and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She graduated from Lufkin High School and then worked to put herself through Angelina College, where she graduated with a Business Degree. She was employed with the City of Huntington for 18 years as City Secretary. Mrs. Stripling was a member of the Assembly of God and was active as long as she was able. Survivors include her sons, Robert Shadowens, Michael Stripling, Keith Stripling and wife Mary, all of Lufkin, and Doug Stripling of Etoile; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, William and Linda Henry of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relative and a host of friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stripling was preceded in death by her husband, Burt Stripling in 1995, two sons, Dee David Shadowens and Bobby Eric Stripling, and one brother Bobby Henry. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Services are in the care of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
