Bio

Mary Ruth Cotten Prugell died at the age of 80 at 9:42 am on Nov. 19, 1978 in Shannon Hospital. She was born to James Cotten and Josephine Newman on May 30, 1889 in Ballinger, Texas. She married James A. Prugell on April 19, 1914 in San Angelo, Texas. They lived on a ranch near Eden, Texas for 50 years before moving to San Angelo in 1873. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, two sons: A.E. Prugell of Sonora and James Prugell of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Clemma Brooks of Sterling City, Mrs. Anna King of Tennyson and Mrs. John Abernathy of Arlington; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bill Brooks of San Angelo, Billy Don Shorell of Eden, Mike Lange of Dallas, James A. Prugell, Jr. of Magnolia, Karl Prugell of New Oreleans, Louisiana and Jim Edgar of Hindsville, Arkansas. Services will be at 10 am in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Terry of First United Methodist Church in Sonora officiating. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
