Bernice Jrline Hollowell Funeral services for Bernice Hollowell, 79 of Thorndale are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor James Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale. Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Mrs. Hollowell passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 in her home in Thorndale with her family by her side. Bernice Jrline Moehnke Hollowell was born March 3, 1933 in Rices Crossing, Texas to Henry Richard and Annie Bertha (Remmert) Moehnke. She was raised in Wilson Springs near Taylor and was a graduate of Taylor High School. She worked at City National Bank in Taylor until her marriage when they moved to Thorndale, moved back to Taylor and then back to Thorndale where they have lived the past 16 years. She volunteered with Thorndale I.S.D. working the gates for the Thorndale Bulldogs, being a avid fan. She was united in marriage to Orby Gene Hollowell on February 12, 1954 in the Methodist Church in Thorndale. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Morgan Hollowell, 2 brothers, Bennie Ray Moehnke and Glen Roy Moehnke and a sister, Dorothy Moehnke Drozd. Bernice is survived by her husband of 57 years, Orby Gene Hollowell of Thorndale. 2 sons; David Hollowell of Thorndale, Michael Hollowell and wife Nancy of Shiloh. 3 daughters; Carol Pitts and husband Richard of Shiloh, Brenda Hoffman and husband Shane of Thorndale, Karen Gomez and fiancee Jose Corona of Cameron. Special child; King Hollowell. 2 brothers; Carl Moehnke of Thrall, Kenneth Moehnke and wife Mary of Port Lavaca. Sister; Elvira Moehnke Hulsey of Thorndale. Sister-in-law; Monica Moehnke of Wichita Falls. 7 grandchildren; Tina Pitts & fiancee James Tuttle of Thorndale, Daniel Pitts & fiancee Stephanie Kruse of Thrall, James Hollowell & wife Melissa of Austin, Jarrod Hollowell of Thorndale, Lindsey Pouncey & husband Eric of Georgetown, Lauren Hollowell and friend Lesley Sanders of Shiloh, Megan Hollowell and friend Corey Strmiska of Shiloh. 4 great grandchildren; Macy Hollowell and Kayla Pouncey of Georgetown, Sean Kruse and Bradlee Pitts of Thrall.
