Bio

This is a duplicate entry. Kendall Thomas entered Mrs. Myers some years before she was deceased and I cannot get him to correct this error or some others he has made. Anson - Nell Myers, 91, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Anson General Hospital. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Adams-Graham Chapel with Rev. Bob Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home. Born December 27, 1920 in Wood County, Texas, Nell was the daughter of the late S.L. Scogin and Julia D. Wilbanks. Her childhood days were divided between living on small farms in both East and West Texas. The late 1930's found her parents settled in the small community of Blair, Texas where Nell attended the nearby high school at Merkel. As a student she excelled in home economics as well as being a member of the district-winning girls' softball team. She rotated between the positions of pitcher and second base. On July 30, 1049 in Anson, Texas she married Hosea B. Myers and became a homemaker. He preceded her in death in 1992. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and for her beautiful yard and pecan orchard that won many "Yard of the Month" honors. She continued to maintain her orchard and lawn until her 90th birthday. Nell was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Nell was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Scogin Tipton; a granddaughter, Sheri Renee Huddleston Perkins; and a grandson, Erik Sven Myers. Survivors include a son, Byron D. Myers and wife Jackie Thompson Myers of Gardiner, NY; a daughter, Julia (Judie) M. Huddleston and husband Jerry Huddleston of San Antonio, TX; grandson, Lee Myers; granddaughter, Julie Ann Huddleston Fleeman; four great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adams-Graham Funeral Home, 732 Ave. I, Anson, Texas. Memorial contributions can be made to the Anson Meals on Wheels (Nell loved their meals) at 1225 Avenue J, Anson, Texas 79501. Published in Abilene Reporter Jan. 17, 2012
