ROACH, James E . of Flint Twp., age 67, died Saturday, September 17, 1988 at Hurley Medical s Center. Funeral Mass will t be held 9:30 AM Wednesday, September 21, 1988 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Fr. David J. Speicher officiating. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery. Those desiring, may make contributions to the American Heart Assoc. Suggested visiting hours are from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM Monday and 2 to 5 PM and 6 to 9 PM Tuesday. Parish Rosary will be recited at 6 PM Tuesday, followed by the Knights of Columbus Council #695 3rd and 4th Degree Memorial Service at 7 PM, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Rd. Mr. Roach was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan, January 28, 1921. He had been a resident of Flint his entire life. He married Mamie McLain, August 11, 1944 in Brownwood, Texas. He was a Charter Member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, a 3rd and 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus #695 and he served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and Army. Mr. Roach was a member of the American Legion # Post #225 and was employed with the City of Flint as a Building Inspector for 10 years, retiring in 1978. Surviving are: wife, Mamie; 3 daughters, Ms Darlis Goldberg of Flint, Judith and husband Will Tottingham of Grand Blanc, Veronica and husband Raymond Koziol of Mundy Twp.; son, Gary Michael Ray of Flint; a mother, Mrs. Clara Roach of Flint; 8 grandchildren, E Sandra Kay, Jeffery and Dara Goldberg, Anthony Scott, Deana Clark, Sean Simmons, Michael and Matthew Ray; great-granddaughter, Kodi Samantha Clark; 2 brothers, Robert of Flint, Thomas of Flushing; sister, Mrs. Katrine Torreano of Flint; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His daughter, Sandra Kay preceded him in death, June 13, 1961 and also his brother, Joseph.
