Named Florence Lauretta at birth, but was always called Lauretta/Laurie ------------------------------------------------- Lauretta C. Burgess Plano, TX - Lauretta C. Burgess, 91, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Burgess formerly lived in Rhinebeck from 1971 to 2002 before moving to Texas to be near her family. While in Rhinebeck she was a member of the Good Shepherd Church, The Women's Society, the Astor Home Ladies of Charity and the Northern Dutchess Hospital Auxiliary. In addition, she also volunteered at the Ferncliff Nursing Home and The Lutheran Braille Group. Mrs. Burgess worked for many years as an accountant at Aperture in Millbrook. Born May 14, 1920 in Loup City, Nebraska, she was the daughter of John and Anastasia (Synak) Czaplewski. On June 26, 1948, at Andrews Air Force Base, she married George Howell Burgess, Sr. Mr. Burgess predeceased her. Mrs. Burgess is survived by a daughter Katherine Burr of Denton, TX; a son George H. Burgess, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Gainesville, FL; four grandchildren Matthew and Nathan Burgess; Christopher (Dana) Burr and Kelley (Bryce) Eubanks ; brother Eugene Czaplewski, sister-in-law Madeline Barnett; great grandchildren Braidyn and Blaine Burr; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Calling hours are Friday, January 20th, 6 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 AM, at the Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck. Interment will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
