Bio

Victor "Vic" Edward Zouzalik, 80, a resident of Lubbock, Texas, departed this life on January 9, 2012, passing away peacefully at his home in the comforting presence of all of his children to join his loving wife, Dorothy, in eternity. Vic was born on May, 8, 1931, in Flatonia, Texas to Edward and Julia Zouzalik. He grew up with his younger brother Ervan, and countless other family and friends. He graduated from Texas A&M University on May 30, 1952, with a Bachelor of Science degree. The same day he graduated he received his Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Officers' Reserve Corps of the United States Army. Having proposed to the love of his life under the Century Tree on the A&M campus, he married Dorothy Holliday in Bryan, Texas on August 10, 1952. Vic and Dorothy moved to Lubbock in 1963, when Vic founded Triangle Manufacturing Company Inc., which was located in Slaton, Texas. Triangle was one of the first cotton waste processing facilities and Vic was known throughout the industry as the "Pioneer" of the collection, processing, and marketing, of waste cotton fibers. With his wife Dorothy at his side, he built the facility into one of the largest of its kind in the World. Vic loved his work, but he also loved Texas A&M football. He rarely missed a game, and he gave generously to the program and to the University. Vic was known to get very excited when watching his aggies on T.V., and his children knew not to bring friends around during that time. He loved Aggie football, but had to divide his affection between the Aggies and the Raiders these last few years while his grandson plays for Texas Tech. For many around town it was odd to see Vic in the red and black, but we suspect Vic will put the maroon and white back on once his grandson graduates. Vic is survived by a son, Darrel Zouzalik and wife Betty of Lubbock, a daughter, Karen Douglas and her husband Brad of Austin, Texas, another daughter Vickie Blackwell and her husband Kenny of Lubbock, and another son, Mark Zouzalik and his wife Susan of Lubbock. Nine grandchildren ( Paige Buchanan and her husband Zac, Lori Zouzalik, Sarah Tobias and her husband Tyler, Brian Blackwell, Amber Distel and her husband Tim, Ashleigh Zouzalik, Chris Douglas, Austin Zouzalik, and Jake Zouzalik) and four great-grandchildren ( Zaiah Buchanan, Kiah Buchanan, Bryson Distel and Lincoln Buchanan) also survive him, as does his brother Ervan Zouzalik and his wife Jeanette of Flatonia, Texas; and 7 step-grandchildren, several cousins, nephews and nieces. His wife Dorothy Holliday Zouzalik, and his parents Edward and Julia Zouzalik, predecease him. The family would like to say a special thank you to Angie, Doloris, Ivory, Sandy, and Sara; all of whom helped give Vic some very special care over the past couple of years. Also a special thank you is to be given to Interim Home Health Care and Hospice. A family visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock between 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home in the Abbey Chapel, which will be followed by a burial at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.
