Carnine, 87, of Champaign, formerly of Sullivan, passed away 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home in Champaign in the presence of family and caregiver Liz Ohman. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Camfield Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the Champaign Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St. Urbana IL, 61802, or to the Harbor Light Hospice, 332 W Marion Ave N1 Forsyth, IL 62535. Arrangements complete by the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, 503 W. Jackson Sullivan, IL, 61951. Olive was born April 9, 1925, on a farm near Sullivan, the daughter of Fay and Emma (Fredrick) Emel. She married Wayne J. Carnine, who preceded her in death September 23, 1987. After raising a family she worked at Magnavox and retired from Kraft Foods. She enjoyed traveling and had seen parts of Europe, Africa, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the states in the U.S.A. Her family enjoyed many family reunions at her son and daughter in law's vacation home in the mountains of Central Oregon. She loved planting and caring for flowers, as well as being a wonderful cook and baker. She loved to read and spent many hours passing that love on to her children, granddaughters, and great grandsons. Her greatest joy was being with her children, grandchildren and their families. She often said her two great grandsons brought special happiness to her later years. She gave her family unconditional love and was a great role model for all of them. Olive is survived by her daughters, Sue (Phil) Madigan of Villa Grove, Cheryl (Alan) Sebens of Bozeman, MT, and son, Doug (Linda) Carnine of Eugene, OR. She also leaves four granddaughters, Berkley and Leah Carnine, Dana (Steve) Waymire and Melissa (Shawn) Schrader; two great grandsons, Ethan and Aidan Schrader. Also surviving is her loving sister, Pat Burcham of Sullivan, and special nephew Kent (Sharon) Emel and niece Cindy Tabor of Sullivan. She leaves a special friend, Frieda Grady, with whom she worked and traveled for many years. She also spent many enjoyable hours with her McDonald's coffee friends of thirty plus years, Steve, Ben, Joe, Woody, Roger, and Frieda. The family would like to thank her loyal and considerate friend, Denver Miller for all the things he did for her. She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents, and two brothers William and Gareth Emel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mcmullinyoung.com.
