Nettie Jim Carter, 97, of Henrietta, Texas, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Bowie, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial services will be at 2:30PM, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta, Texas with Rev. Jim Moses, Minister of Music, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, Texas. Mrs. Carter was born January 4, 1914 to James and Stella (nee Hankins) Stambaugh in Burkburnett, TX. She was married to Hayden H. Carter, Sr. for 56 years. Mrs. Carter was a mother and a housewife before becoming involved in the cosmetology profession. She owned Carter Beauty School in Wichita Falls, TX and served on the Texas State Board of Cosmetology while training and encouraging many young people to enter the beauty business, a profession she truly loved and enjoyed. She belonged to the Eastern Star and served as a Worthy Matron in Petrolia, TX. A faithful follower of our Lord, she was a member and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Hayden Carter, Jr.; one daughter, Joyce Ann Bergin; grandson, Patrick Bergin; two sister and two brothers. Survivors include one sister, Mary Lou Whitney of Salinas, California; two grandsons, Michael Bergin and wife Betsy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Hayden Carter, III and wife Anne of Pittsburg, Pensylvania; niece Louan Levis of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Gentry of Dallas; granddaughter-in-law Pamela Bergin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1708 Dayton, Ste. B , Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
