Published in the Arcadia Guide, Arcadia, Nebraska, Thursday, May 21, 1959, Page 2, Column 4 Elizabeth Holmes Scott Passed Away May 7th Mrs. Elizabeth Holmes Scott, daughter of Hannah Guy and John b. Holmes, was born February 15, 1890, at Excelsior, Iowa, and passed away in the hospital at Loup City, Nebraska, on May 7, 1959. Her parents moved to Streeter, Illinois, where she spent her girlhood and attended elementary school and there her mother died. At 13 years of age she came with her father and stepmother to Westerville, Nebraska, where she lived the rest of her life except for the last seven months when she and her husband moved to Arcadia. At Westerville she completed her grammar school education and in 1914 married John David Scott at Broken Bow, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born: Marvin Lowell of Orosi, Calif., William glen of Arcadia, and John Junior of Westerville. Survivors include her husband; three sons; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Scott of Ansley and Mrs. Edith Walden of Dinuba, Calif., and two brothers, Mr. Henry Holmes of Ansley and Mr. Albert Holmes of Fresno, Calif. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9th at the Westerville Methodist Church. Interment was in the Westerville Cemetery.
