Helen Louise Rhodes Shafer (12 November 1916 - 06 January 2012) ~`~ * ~`~ Helen Louise Shafer Helen Louise Shafer, age 95 of Galena, KS passed from this life Friday, January 6, 2012 at Quaker Hill Nursing Home. Helen was born November 12, 1916 in Joplin, MO to the union of James and Zella (White) Rhodes. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Shafer on June 7, 1940 in Girard, KS. Helen was a member of the Riverton Friends Church. She spent her life as a home maker loving and caring for all her family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Earl Rhodes, and Roy Rhodes. She is survived by two sons, Steve Shafer and wife Jan of Baxter Springs, KS and John Shafer and wife Debbie of Galena, KS; Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Chris Belk will officiate.
