ALABAMA PVT US ARMY WORLD WAR I. Robert Kent is the son of Josh Kent and Alice Garrett. He was the husband of Clare Lee (Thomas) Kent. ************************************************************ The obituary for Robert Kent was published in "The Gadsden Times"; newspaper; Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama: Monday, May 06, 1963 ROBERT KENT Funeral services for Robert Kent, 74, of 305 North 20th Street, will be held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in Dwight Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Cobb officiating. Interment will be in the Forrest Cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will include Billy Thomas, Tony Maroney, Grady Nicholson, W.O. Briscoe, Andy Kerr, and Robert R. Smith. Mr. Kent died at his residence yesterday at 3:45 p.m. after a long illness. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Brannon Bible Class of Dwight Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clare Lee Thomas Kent; three daughters, Miss Mabel Kent of Gadsden, Mrs. Mary Nell Evans of Harvey, Ill., and Mrs. Betty Jean Davis of Posen, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Julia Napler of Newport News, Va.; a brother, Nolen Kent of Fitzgerald, Ga.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Kent was a native of Walden County, Ga., and a resident of Etowah County for most of his life. He was retired from Republic Steel Corporation and was a member of the Dwight Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War I. The body will remain in the Collier-Butler Funeral Home until one hour before the hour of service, at which time it will be removed to the church to lie in state.
