Bio
Pearl E. Vickers, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, in Ponca City. She was 91. Pearl was born March 28, 1920, at Willow Springs, Mo., the daughter of Robert Bruce Malcom and Zephae Mae Keeler Malcom. She was a 1938 graduate of Ponca City High School. She married Joe Vernon Vickers on Dec. 25, 1938, in Ponca City. The couple had been married nearly 62 years at Mr. Vickers passing. Pearl had worked as a telephone operator for several years in both Ponca City and Amarillo, Texas. Her enjoyments were vacationing in California and her family. She was a homemaker and grandmother deluxe and also known for her extraordinary baking and cooking skills. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Taylor and husband Dr. James Gary Taylor of Ponca City; one son, Larry G. Vickers and wife Patty of Benbrook, Texas; three grandchildren, Carol Vickers of Portland, Ore., Ryan Taylor and wife Mandy of Tulsa and Robb Taylor of Perkins; three great-grandchildren, Brennyn, Sydney and Jenae Taylor of Stillwater; one sister, Veda Bristow of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Janet Patton of Houston, Texas and Nancy Siler and husband Jim of Blackwell; four nephews, Mike Stratton and wife Cindy of Wichita, Kan., Bart Henderson and wife Linda of Houston, Texas, Sean Grigsba and wife Julie of Ponca City and Joe Bristow and wife Gail of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Linda Powelson of Blackwell and Dorothy Henderson and husband Bart of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Zephae Malcom; and her husband, Joe V. Vickers, on Oct. 24, 2000. A special appreciation and thank you goes out to Kelli Glaser and all the caregivers who helped with Mrs. Vickers. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Grace Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Grace Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Montgomery presiding. Interment will follow in Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ryan Taylor, Robb Taylor, Scott Kirkpatrick, Ryan Kirkpatrick, Mike Stratton and Sean Grigsba.
