Son of James Ross and Sara (Hammond) Haddix of Litchfield. Served in U.S. Army from Oct. 1941 to Aug. 1945. Married Frances A. Kerchal in Hastings, Nebraska on Aug. 24, 1945. One child to this union: Gene Allen Haddix Former Litchfield resident Geanis (Gene) Haddix, 77, of Arcadia, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1994, at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island. Services were today in Arcadia. Burial was at Arcadia City Cemetery. He was born June 20, 1917, at Litchfield to James and Sara (Hammond) Haddix. He grew up in the Litchfield area. He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 22, 1941, -Aug. 15, 1945, during World War II. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, Oak Leaf Cluster and Infantry Combat Badge. After the war, he moved to Arcadia. On Aug. 22, 1945, he married Frances Kerchal at Hastings. The couple made their home at Arcadia where he worked for Sell Well-drilling and also farmed north of Arcadia. He later owned his own business, Haddix Plumbing and Heating. His wife died April 25, 1980. Survivors include sone Gene, Wallace; sisters, Adna Green, Ansley, and Dorothy Machland, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
