John William Konopka, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. A rosary was held at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was held Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Burial followed in Midway Cemetery. He was born July 7, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Peter and Marianna Pikulinski Konopka, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Konopka was a captain in the Army of the United States and flew 35 missions over Germany in a B-17 during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Helen Konopka of Livingston; brother, Bill Konopka of Lakewood, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Henry Ager of Livingston; son, Charles David Hunter of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lynette Hunter of Houston; nephew and wife, Bill and Jan Konopka of Lakewood, Colo.; grandsons and wives, Hank and Cecilia Ager of Livingston and Michael and Sherrin Ager of Austin and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Julia.
