Son of James and Mary (Clark) Oldfield. Married (1) Sarah Jane Jackson on January 25, 1852 in Jefferson County, Iowa. Married (2) Irlisha McGuire on February 10, 1859 in Pawnee County, Nebr. Married (3) Ruth J. (Munford) Adams on February 23, 1873 in Lucas County, Iowa. Married (4) Jane Elizabeth (Hamilton) Dunwiddie on February 24, 1874 in Corydon, Iowa. Married (5) Isabelle (Reed) Flowers on December 17, 1903 in Clarinda, Iowa. ```````````````` Merna Messenger (Merna, Nebr.), December 15, 1922, p. 1, col. 4 JAMES OLDFIELD James Oldfield was born December 1831 at Madison, Indian[a], and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. W. Kellenbarger, Merna, Nebraska on Dec. 8, 1922, aged 91 years and 4 days. When a young man he emigrated to Iowa. Father Oldfield has been a faithful Christian for 71 years, and died rejoicing in the faith of his Lord. He leaves to mourn his departure two sons and four daughters, one stepdaughter, two step grandchildren, 13 grand children, 17 great grand children and 5 step grand children, two sisters and a brother, and a host of friends. Services were held in the United Brethern church at Merna, Nebraska. Father Oldfield was a very active old gentleman until a few weeks ago when he became bedfast and failed to rally. He made friends very readily by his sunny disposition and these people mourn his departure. Funeral services will be held from the U.B. church Sunday the Rev. H. A. McKelvie officiating. The remains were then taken to the depot to await the evening train, which carried the body to the old home Shenandoah, Iowa where loving hands laid to rest the remains of the aged man.
