Vernon Lee McGee was born near Willow, Oklahoma on June 30, 1924, one of five children to Opal Exter and Wendell Lee McGee. He passed away December 17, 2011 at his home at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 17 days. Lee attended school at Ocina and at the age of 14, he began working for the railroad. When Lee was 18, he married Lena Ruth (Patsy) McCurdy on January 10, 1942. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his discharge, they lived near Hood River, Oregon before returning to Oklahoma and they made their home north of Willow where he farmed and raised his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leon McGee, and a grandson, Randy McGee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Patsy; 4 sons, Jim McGee and wife, Rhonda, Sperry, OK, Tony McGee, Willow, OK, Terry McGee and wife, Nan, Dallas, TX, Glen McGee and wife, Joan, Richardson, TX; 8 grandchildren, Tonya Pope and husband, Darrell, El Reno, OK, Cecily Gibson and husband, Shelby, Buena Park, CA, Max McGee and wife, Janet, Oologah, OK, Mickey McGee and wife, Jamie, Willow, OK, Brandon McGee and wife, Rita, Ft. Worth, TX, Megan Jamison and husband, Drew, Ft. Worth, TX, Garrett McGee, Richardson, TX and Lindsay McGee, Richardson, TX; 11 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Ruby Blankenship, Willow, OK, Juanita Hopper, Mangum, OK, Velma Blair, Cleveland, OH and a host of other, relatives and friends. The family requests memorials be made to Alzheimer's research. Service: Services will be held December 21, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Willow Church of Christ officiated by Ken Hamilton and Jim Foster. Burial will be at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
