Bio

James Morrison was born January 4, 1812 to Irish emigrants William and Nancy Morrison. He grew up and met his future wife, Mary McClelland, in Abbeville, South Carolina. James and Mary were married August 3, 1843. The family moved to Shelby County, Texas in 1855. The names of their known children are: 1.) Nancy P. Morrison married Moses Marion Carroll 2.) Jane Morrison married 1st. George M. McWilliams and 2nd. William Beck 3.) Sarah Morrison married Thomas Beck 4.) William Andrew Morrison, born April 1, 1851 and died between 1862-63 5.) Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Morrison married James Robert Carroll 6.) John Augustus Morrison married Sarah Jennie Carroll 7.) James Thomas Morrison married Sarah Louise Booth 8.) Quincy Lester Morrison, born July 21, 1858 and died 1859 9.) Margaret "Maggie" Frances Morrison married Julius Truitt Garrett 10.) William Morrison married Susan E. Anthony James married his second wife Elizabeth "Bettie" Benge on February 24, 1880. James died March 6, 1900 at the age of 88. He worked as a farmer all throughout his life.
