Bio
Norma Svehla, 78, of Schuyler, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Visitation will continue from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Norma was born on Aug. 22, 1933, in Colfax County, to Albin and Josephine (Dlouhy) Shonka. On Sept. 30, 1953, she married LeRoy Svehla, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Norma is survived by two sons, Dean (Deb) Svehla, and Dale (Holly) Svehla, both of Clarkson; three daughters, Donna Neill, of Berkley, Mich., Deb Stevenson, of Silver Creek, and Diane (Cory) Podany, of Lincoln; one sister, Lorene Svatora, of Schuyler; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy, in 2005; brothers, Lambert and Kenneth; and a son-in-law, Stephen Neill. The family suggests memorials be made to family's desires. Svoboda Funeral Home, in Schuyler, is in charge of arrangements.
