Ranson Lane, born 17 Oct 1784, Greene County, North Carolina (now Tennessee), son of Aquilla Lane and Agnes Fitzgerald; died About 1835 in Madison County, Arkansas. Although we could not locate his headstone during a visit in October 2007, family information passed along is that he is buried in the Lane Cemetery, Loy, Madison County, Arkansas. This cemetery is not well kept and there are many graves overgrown with vegetation. Also, the person who bought the land removed many of the stones to plow the field. Sources: "Rocky River Baptist Church, Warren Co, Tennessee," 1828 Membership List, Primitive Baptist Church, http://www.combs-families.org/combs/records/tn/warren/church.htm, citing Carolyn Sue Lane Lewis (family lore) "Ranson (appears as Ransom in the list) and Nancy Lane, who both appear on this list, were my great great grandparents. Some of the information has been passed down from my aunt Beulah Lane Stephenson, who is now deceased, and some has been gathered from other researchers via Ancestry.com." Written by Carolyn Lane Lewis , revised by Keith Riggle Aguilla Lane spelled his son's name "Ranson" in both a Family Record, which became part of Agnes Lane's widow's pension application, and in his will. Neither of these documents, nor any other primary source record, lists a middle name for Ranson. The name of Ranson's wife is not known. Some family trees name her as Nancy Hall, but she married Ranson's brother, Garrett, per a Jefferson County, Tennessee, marriage license dated 19 Sep 1801. References: Bureau of Pensions.
