Graveside services will be held at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth on March 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Open visitation will be on March 21, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. Doug was born on January 6, 1925, in Roscoe, Texas, to Lester Duette Hardin Sr. and Winnie Mae Absher Hardin. Following his graduation from Fort Worth Polytechnic High School in 1942, he went on to serve in the United States Army. Doug met the love of his life and married Estelle Guest on Marsh 18, 1944. They had one son, Michael Gary Hardin. Upon his retirement from Southwestern Bell, later AT&T, Doug and Estelle traveled from one side of the country to the other meeting people and taking in the sights in their motor home. Doug was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing regularly with his friends at Willow Springs Golf course in Haslet. His golfing days ended when he suffered a stroke while playing first hole there at age 92. He was also a fan of country western music and enjoyed working puzzles. Doug is preceded in death by his brother, L.D. Hardin in 2001; Estelle Hardin, wife of 58 years in 2002; and his son, Michael Hardin in 1996. Doug is survived by his nephew, Dee Hardin and his wife Susie; niece, Angela Dearing; and daughter-in-law, Jo Dora Hardin. Those desiring, please make a memorial contribution to a charity of choice.
