'First Sheriff, Angelina Co. Apr 1846' Father: William Wharton Collins 1778-1816 Mother: Ann Corran 1780-1820 Brother : John Wharton Collins. , founder of Covington LA. George passed the bar at age 16, becoming the youngest person to be licensed to practice law in the State of Louisiana; he was the first white settler in Angelina County area. He married on 30 Oct 1837 in San Augustine County, Texas to Martha Ann Bridges. They had 12 children.
