Bio

Ina B. Smith, 70, Abilene, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at her home. She was born June 4, 1934, in Goodland, the daughter of Charles William and Anna Jewell (Allen) Adams. She was reared in the community of her birth and attended local schools. She married Raymond Leroy Smith on Aug. 3, 1952, in Goodland. They lived in Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, California, Colorado and Germany, before moving to Abilene in 1994. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had worked as an Avon representative and as treasurer for the First Baptist Day Care, Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, Security, Colo., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary No. 2934. Survivors include her husband, Raymond of the home; three daughters, Bonita Lou Garcia of Pueblo, Colo., Marcia Elaine Cox of Brier, Wash., and Cathleen Sue Cooper of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Darryl Lee Smith of Ocee, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Raymond L. Smith Jr., on March 19, 2004; three brothers, Charles W. Adams Jr., Raymond H. Adams Sr. and Harry L. Adams; and two sisters, Bertha May Parish and Loetta Dean Bowman Shade. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 11, at the Bateman Funeral Home, Goodland. Burial will be in Goodland Cemetery.
