Bio

Born to Captain James A. Bridges & Nancy Quin Bridges. Married Catherine Sarah Brent (1826-1871) on April 26, 1849, in Pike County. Linus & Catherine lived in Pike County, MS, after their marriage, since Catherine was a Pike County girl. She was the daughter of John Alonzo Brent (1778-1844; Memorial# 62041752) & Mary Magdaline Turnipseed Brent (1786-1863; Memorial# 62041752). In 1860, they were living at Holmesville. By 1870, they were in the China Grove community, which used to be in Pike County but is now in adjacent Walthall County. Catherine had died by 1880. In the 1880 census, James and Rachel with Lena, Eddie, and Arthur, were living in the home of Linus Bridges as he is shown as "Self" and James as "Son" and Rachel as "Daughter-in-Law and children as "Granddaughter or Grandson". His son Richard was also living with him. It is assumed that Linus followed James and Rachel and their family to Texas, as he was buried in the Allen Cemetery in 1897 or 1898 at the age of about 87 years old. His daughter Nancy Bridges Smith and her family also moved to Allen, as well as his sons Richard and John, as they are buried in the Pecan Grove Cemetery or the Allen Cemetery.
