Martha A. Schwenke passed away on December 21, 2011 in Portland. Martha was born on August 17, 1915 in Schulenburg, Texas to Adolph & Mary Gerla. She was 96 years of age and had been a resident of Aransas Pass since 1954. She and her husband, Reinhold owned and operated the Bakery Café in Aransas Pass for 23 years. Martha was a member of the Aransas Pass Garden Club and St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She also enjoyed playing bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reinhold Schwenke, son Alvin Schwenke, and two grandchildren, Stephanie Jo and David Schwenke. She is survived by her son, Reinhold Schwenke of Sinton, Texas; two grandchildren, Chris and Sabrina Schwenke; and two great-grandchildren, William & Kemper Schwenke. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, Aransas Pass, Texas. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Aransas Pass, Texas. Burial will follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Portland, Texas
