Bio

James Lew Herrington was the son of James Monroe Herrington and Verdie Ruth Haile of Rogers, AR. His TX Birth Certificate gives his date of birth as 30 Sep 1930 in Mitchell Co, TX (i.e. his tombstone birth year is wrong???). James Lew died in Grants Pass, Josephine Co, OR and was buried with "full military honors by a detail from the Veterans Administration Domiciliary." He served in the U. S. Navy from 2 Sep 1947 to 16 Jun 1953. He married Betty June Howland on 2 Dec 1950 in Rogers Co, AR; she is buried in Rogers, AR. I have to admit that I trust his TX Birth Certificate birth date that gives his year of birth as 1930; his parents are correct on that document. However he is listed as 1 year on the 1930 census (1 6/12 with the 6/12 marked out). He is listed as 11 on the 1940 census. When he registered for WWII Draft Registration, he gave his birth date as 26 Sep 1928. CONFUSING!!!
