Bio
Elinor Elizabeth Powers was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Fanning County, Texas, and died Dec. 1, 2011, in Duncan, at the age of 96. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle. Arrangements are under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Elinor was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a cashier in the retail grocery business for 20 years, retiring in l976, and was a homemaker. She was an avid shopper, domino, bingo and card player. She is survived by a son, Richard and Shirley Forsythe, of Comanche; a daughter, Ann Edwards, of Snyder, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lydia Skrabanek Peters, and a brother, Gilbert Peters.
