Dorothy Colleen Burton Grayson, 79, passed away November 30, 2011 in Childress, TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel in the Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home with Ronnie Shoffner and Kerry Woods officiating. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Dorothy Colleen Burton Grayson was born February 19, 1932 at home in Tell, Texas to Olustee Viola Burton and Temple Hamilton Burton. She graduated from Childress High School in 1949. She married Leslie Truman Grayson on April 23, 1950 in Childress. She lived in Tell, TX until approximately the age of 10, then moved to Ropesville, TX. At age 15 the family moved to Plainview and then moved back to Childress in 1947. She worked at Harp's Drug Store while in high school and after graduation. After marriage she became a full time homemaker. She enjoyed collecting birdhouses, making silk flower arrangements and going to garage sales. She was known as a great cook to many. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie. Survivors include two sons, Morris and wife Connie of Childress and Marvin and wife Nhan of Graham, TX; a daughter, Kathleen of Richardson, TX; a sister, Carolyn Hackler and husband James Ray of Childress; three grandchildren, Erika Owens and husband Chad of Vian, OK; Cody Grayson and wife Lora of Childress; and Adria Grayson of College Station, TX; five great grandchildren, Dustin, Cheyenne and Austin Owens all of Vian, OK and Conner and Audrey Grayson of Childress; ten nieces and seven nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are David Grimminger, Bobby Love, Delbert Love, Don Martin, Malcomb O'Daniel, and Kevin Hackler. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Shelton, Bruce Parr, Duaine Sims, Donald Miller, Jimmy Bridges and Rusty Statham.
