Jeffres Head Male ....28 ..Nebraska Betty J. Jeffres ....Wife ..Female 19 ..Kansas William Lloyd Jeffres passed away on 19 Nov 2011 at the age of 90 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on 6 Sep 1921 to Chris and Bessie Jeffres in Baird,(sic) NE. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he honorably served in WWII as a rifleman for the 41st Armed Infantry 2nd Armored Division. William was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze stars and the Army Good Conduct Ribbon. He moved to Ridgecrest, CA in 1949, where he met and married his wife of 49 years Betty Jean Clark and raised their five children. He worked for civil service at China Lake, CA as a heavy duty mechanic until he retired in 1979, then became a part time employee at the golf course and auto body shop. In his spare time while working and caring for his family, he built three homes. William is survived by his son Gary of Ridgecrest, daughter Donna and Bill McNamara of Atascadero, CA, son Mike and Connie of Las Vegas, NV and granddaughters Stephanie of North Carolina and Amy of Texas, son David and Nancy, grandchildren Yvette of Glendale, CA and Jessie of Ridgecrest, and great-grandson Timothy and daughter Barbara and Dean Vinson of Texas and grandson Charles Vinson. He enjoyed long walks, hiking, short trips out of town - he called them adventures. He was part of the Rock Hounds for years with his children. He made beautiful windmills. He was also active with the senior citizens as an exercise instructor. Memorial services were handled by Holland and Lyons Mortuary. Ridgecrest Daily Independent, Ridgecrest, CA 30 Nov 2011
