Ray "Red" Gilmore, 58, a coach at Breckenridge Junior High and High Schools. He was raised in the IOOF Orphanage in Corsicana from age nine until he graduated from high school. He attended the University of Texas where he played football. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He attended Navarro Jr. College in Corsicana and graduated from Daniel Baker College at Brownwood in 1951. He taught school and was a football coach in Springtown, Lake Worth Village, Azle, Courtney, and Stanton. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Lake Worth Village and the Texas High School Coaches Association. He was a Methodist. On 24 July 1951, he married Betty Lindsey at Brownwood. The couple moved from Fort Worth to Breckenridge in July 1976. Mr. Gilmore was preceded in death by a sister. Survivors: his wife; two daughters - Melinda Cecil Duncan and Gail Breed; one son - Gary Gilmore; two grandchildren.
