Bio

Emily Virginia Vaughn was born July 30, 1920, to A.J. and Clara (Knudtson) Vaughn in rural Cherry County, Nebraska. She was the youngest of eleven children. She married Robert Charles Tuttle Sr. on July 6, 1937, in Valentine, Nebraska. To this union, one son, Robert Duane Tuttle was born on February 19, 1938. They lived and worked on the Weston Ranch in western Keya Paha County, Nebraska until they moved to Springview, Nebraska in 1952. Bob and Em moved north of Springview in 1956, where they lived until Bob passed away on September 16, 1980. Em retired and moved to Springview that fall. Em loved to play cards and go to dances, especially at Carlock, South Dakota. Em was an active member of the Senior Center in Springview, and opened the Center on Fridays for cards. She married Dale D. Herring on August 5, 1982, at Bassett, Nebraska. They made their home in Springview until Dale passed away on March 14, 1993. Em moved to Rock County Long Term Care in Bassett in August 2005 due to failing health. She resided there until her passing on November 23, 2011 at the Rock County Hospital in Bassett. Em was preceded in death by parents, A.J. and Clara Vaughn; and her two husbands, Bob Tuttle and Dale Herring. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Vic Vaughn and Jim Vaughn; and her sisters, Lottie Daniels, Myrtle Taylor, Gladys Yauney, Mary Herrington, Floss Polen, Georgie Foster and Leo Tuttle. Survivors include: son, Bob Tuttle and wife, Mavis of Springview; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Rinehart of Van Nuys, California; numerous nieces and nephews. Never a homebody, Em will be remembered for her love of dancing, traveling, bowling, and shopping. She loved to go, and she passed her love of shopping, shoes and jewelry on to her granddaughters.
