Sophina Morrison Old Law News 15 Feb 1934 Mrs. Sophina Morrison Old was born January 17, 1859 and died at her home in Waynesboro, January 27, 1934, age 75 years and 10 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Waynesboro Baptist Church Sunday, January 28, 1934 by Revs. Ward and Casteel. Song service by the Florence Postal quartet. "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be," "Waiting For A Better Day," 'Asleep In Jesus," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" were beautifully rendered. Honorary pall bearers were: Dr. D.L. Wood, Dr. Tom Stockard, R.M. Sims, Jess Bundrant, A.W. Cole, C.M. Hampton, Jess Copeland, Hilliard Helton, Morris Helton, Joe Pitts, Bill Griggs, T.B. Garth, Charles Gallaher, Charles Norman, Jr., Carmel Griggs, B.A. England. Active: John Barclay, Bill Yeiser, Eunice Earl Lumpkins, Willie McDonald and Frank Helton. O.L North of Ethridge was funeral director. Mrs. Old was the mother of Mrs. Arthur Caton, formerly of Red Hill, and Mrs. Carl Nowlin of Flatwoods and has visited in Lawrence County and made many friends here who will be sorry to hear of her death.
