Obituary Chattanooga Times Free Press EVENSVILLE, TN — Max Shaver, 86, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009. A longtime resident of Rhea County, he attended Concord Union Church in Evensville and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force in World War II, serving as a bomber pilot. He was in the 101st squad and a first lieutenant. He flew 35 missions bombing France, Germany and Belgin. He opened the first airport in Rhea County and was a farmer of beef cattle. He enjoyed walking. He was preceded in death by parents, Wallace and Bertha Schild Shaver; a special aunt and uncle, Bess and Dewey Shaver. Survivors include his beloved wife of 26 years, Shelia Shaver, of Evensville; two daughters, Amie Shaver, of Evensville, Amanda and Bruce Anderson, of Dayton, Tenn.; one son, David Max Shaver, of Evensville; two grandsons, Allen Anderson and soon to be a new grandson; special nephew, Bradley McClure and nieces, Emily McClure, Jennifer Smith; his special companion, his dog, Chloe. A graveside service will be 4:30 p.m. today at Shaver Family Cemetery with Rev. George Kilgore and Rev. Shane Johnston officiating. Arrangements by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home Inc., Dayton, Tn.
