SOURCE: Death Certificate: ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' The Billings Gazette, MT. 3/16/1935 Saturday Page 3 Storke Takes Emma Hamilton Women at One-Time Lived-in Custer County A stroke suffered several days ago proved fatal to Mrs. Emma J. Hamilton, who died in the family home early Friday evening. Mrs. Hamilton had been in poor health for the last two years. Mrs. Hamilton had been residing in the city with her husband and son since last September, coming here from Missoula, MT. She was born June 6, 1864, in Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Joseph C. Gaskill, who had formerly resided in the United States. When she was two years old, her parents returned to this county, settling in Ohio. After living in Iowa and Nebraska, the family moved to the Black Hills in 1882. On Dec. 23, 1889, she married Mr. Hamilton at St. Francis Mission, South Dakota. The couple moved to Miles City in 1894 and too up residence on a cattle ranch outside of the town. In 1913 they moved into the city proper when Mr. Hamilton was made receiver of the United States Land Office. Five years ago, the couple went to Missoula, MT. to live. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Catholic Church. Her husband is the Western Representative for a Wisconsin Brewery. Besides her widower, she is survived by five sons, a daughter, 22 grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. The children are Leo A., J.M. and Donald M. all of Missoula, MT., John O. of Milwaukee and R.P. of Billings, MT. The daughter is Mrs. M.M. Ball of Miles City, MT. Her sister and brothers are Sam Jarvis of Miles City, Mrs. M.D, Shy of Ashland, MT. Don Gaskill of Loesch and Leo. The body was taken to Settergrens Funeral Home here Saturday will be taken to Miles City where a Requiem High Mass will be held at the Sacred Geart Catholic Church of which she was a member, at 9 o'clock Monday morning. The celebrant will be the Rev. Thomas Hennessey. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Miles City, MT.
