Bernie E. Sibal 05/20/1937 - 11/25/2006 Bernie E. Sibal, 69, of Gering, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at his home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering with Pastor Richard Neugebauer officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Military honors will be provided by the Nebraska National Guard. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. to Noon on Thursday at Gering Memorial Chapel in Gering. A memorial has been established to Children's Hospital Foundation, 1245 Colfax Avenue, Suite 400, Denver, Colorado 80218. Bernie was born May 20, 1937, at Ogallala, Nebraska to Edward and Marie (Froschheiser) Sibal. He grew up on a farm near Roscoe and attended schools in Ogallala, graduating from the Ogallala High School in 1955. He then enlisted in the United States Army in June 1955 and served until 1958. He served in the Signal Corps in Vurdun, France for two years. Following his discharge he returned to Ogallala and worked for Goodall and later TRW. On August 28, 1960, he married Deloris Meline at Ogallala. They lived in Ogallala until moving to Gering in 1964, where he worked for Midwic. In 1986, he went to work for Scottsbluff County retiring in May 2004. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors include his sons, Doug (Lynn) Sibal of Morrill, B.J. (Ginger) of Scottsbluff and Larry II (Jennifer) Sibal of Gering; eleven grandchildren, Kristan, Kortney, Nikkole, Matthew, Jessie, Bradley, Berrina, Conrad, Hunter, Alec and Remingten; two great-grandchildren; mother, Marie Sibal of Ogallala; brother, Robert (Jan) Sibal of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; his wife; son, Lawrence E. Sibal; twin brother, Edward L. Sibal; and nephew, Greg Sibal.
