Jennie Alice Weech, daughter of Joseph and Nancy Weech, was born in Knoxville, Illinois December 5, 1870. Later the family moved to Oneida, Illinois, where she resided until her marriage to H.E. Fudge on January 21, 1890. In 1896, Mr. and Mrs. Fudge moved to Iowa, living for a time in Cass County, and a few years later, came to Adams County, where they made their home. To this marriage were born twelve children, two dying in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Ray Koenche, Corning, Bennie A. Fudge, Red Oak, Iowa, Mrs. Lee Hardisty, Corning, Mrs. Katy Homan, Prescott, Mrs. Mary Sprague, Corning, Mrs. Lewis Keester, Prescott, Everett Fudge, Corning, Joseph Fudge, Brooks, and Clyde Fudge, Corning. Besides the children and her surviving husband, she leaves 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Five grandsons and one granddaughters are in the armed service. Besides her immediate family, she leaves four sisters and two brothers, all in Illinois. Mrs. Fudge has been in failing health for several months, and passed away February 16, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Hardisty, where she and her husband had made their home. Mrs. Fudge was a devoted wife and mother, and always willing to do more than her share whenever she was needed. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, February 19th at the Methodist Church in Corning at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Victor A. Bloomquist, local pastor. Music was presented by Mrs. Russell Roland and John Riegel accompanied by Miss Eva Roland at the piano. Pall bearers were Orville Koneche, Henry Hardisty, Robert Fudge, James Hardisty, Cecil Fudge, Ronald Sprague. Interment was in Praire Rose Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, February 22, 1945, page 4
