Bio

Gerald Studdard, 48, of San Antonio, a former Lampasas resident, died Thursday at the Audie Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital in San Antonio after a long illness. Funeral services were Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Akers Funeral Home Chapel in San Antonio, with burial in National Cemetery, Fort Sam Houston, with full military honors. Born March 4, 1931 in Bangs, Mr. Studdard had been a resident of San Antonio the past six years and was a heavy equipment operator. He served with the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Yolanda A.; a daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Janice Sue Melvin and Cammy of Fort Worth; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Studdard of Brownwood; a sister, Lorena Lee Graves of San Antonio; twin brother, Derald Studdard of Moore; and brothers, Henry Studdard of Lampasas and Luther Studdard of Bangs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Studdard of Lampasas, and his father, Luther E. Studdard of Bangs. Pallbearers were Jack Brown, Eddie Lee, Bill Spivey, Warren Studdard and Jim Hall, all of San Antonio, and Woodrow Tipton of Lampasas. Glenn Middleton of San Antonio served as honorary pallbearer.
