Alvin S. Golka Services at Ord Alvin Stanley Golka, 51, died April 27, 1977 at his home in Ord. Mr. Golka was born June 30, 1925 at Elyria to Stanley and Victoria Silver Golka. His early life was spent on the family farm near Elyria and he attended schools at Elyria. He entered the U.S. Navy during World War II, surviving an ordeal of having his boat torpedoed and spending two days afloat in the Red Sea before being rescued. After being released from the Navy in 1946 Alvin moved to Portland, OR, where he was employed as a welder for truck and heavy equipment repair. He married Florence Augustyn May 9, 1965 in Portland. They made their home in Portland until December 1974 when they moved to Ord. Alvin was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Florence of Ord, three brothers, Robert and Sylvester both of Grand Island and Richard of Kansas City, KS, sisters, Mrs. Delores Mason and Mrs. Rose Gibbon both of Portland, OR, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leon. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Stanley Gorak officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Elyria with the Ord Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Elsie Furtak was the organist for a trio consisting of Jane Novosad, Mrs. Audrey Novosad and Mrs. Nancy Vogeler. Pallbearers were Barry Mason, Gary Augustyn, Timothy Augustyn, Larry Golka, Leslie Golka and Ron Golka. The Ord Quiz - Thur, May 5 1977, Pg 8, Col 4
