Carlyon Jane Rubio "Carol" May 7, 1949 - November 2, 2011. Carlyon Jane Rubio passed away peacefully in her home with her devoted husband at her side. She was 62. Carol battled Lung Cancer with unyielding courage and a fiery attitude. Her red hair was just one of Carol's many "Spitfire" attributes. Carol was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Ruby and Herman Pierce. Carol, along with her parents and seven siblings, moved to Kern County as a child and resided in Bakersfield for the majority of her life. She was an educator for the Bakersfield City School District and later devoted her time to being a Homemaker. Carol had a generous heart and loved children. Carol had a love of arts and crafts, but particularly enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She loved camping, traveling, gambling, and spending time with friends and family. Carol is survived by her husband of thirty years, Felix Rubio, their five daughters, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous foster and step-children, and close friends. Carol's best friend and sister Loretta Chandler as well as their brother Paul will be two of the many loved ones waiting for her at the Pearly Gates. She will forever be remembered for her fiery spunk, her vast intelligence, and her undying love. There will be a closed casket visitation on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at Mission Family Mortuary from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Services will also be at Mission Family Mortuary on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at 10:00am. Services will be immediately followed by burial at Shafter Cemetery.
