Eva (McGee) Strother Odom Funeral services for Eva McGee Strother Odom will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006 in the Trinity Baptist Church in Oakdale with the Revs. Tony Robinson, Charles Robinson, Wilford Belgard and Andrew Johnson officiating. Committal services will follow in the Occupy No. 1 Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mrs. Odom, 82, of Oakdale entered eternal rest on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006 in the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. She was born on September 3, 1923 to the union on Lucius W. McGee and Mary (Mahaley) Whitley McGee in Oakdale. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church were she was Sunday School secretary, president of the WMU, worked with the Trinity Food Bank, and church clerk. Mrs. Odom was former owner/operator of the Eatery at the Oakdale Sewing Factory and was a hairdresser for many years. She was also a former volunteer at the Oakdale Community Hospital and a former volunteer on the Plainview Fire Department. Preceding Eva in death were her parents, Lucius and Mary (Mahaley) McGee; two husbands, H. Strother and Lenox Odom; one stepdaughter; two stepsons; eight brothers; four step-grandchildren and a special friend, Archie Tilton. She leaves behind those to rejoice in her Heavenly Homecoming, but mourn her earthly presence, two sisters, Christine Marcantel and Laura Byrd both of Oakdale, two stepsons, Billy Strother of Houston, Texas and Leland Strother of Richmond, Virginia; one stepdaughter-in-law, Carolyn Murray of Houston, Texas; numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Herbert McGee, Bruce Miller, Cleve Whitstine, Vernon Ware, Joseph Giroir and Ralph Stapleton. Honorary pallbearers honored to serve will be Eddie Marcantel, Aaron Courville, Gene Fontenot, Gary Moore, Arlis Poag, Anthony Strother, Farley Cloud, Preston Ellis, John Strother, James Odom, Elton Rodriguez and Royce Winn. Friends may call today from 10 am until 9:30 p.m. in the church. Thursday, April 20, 2006 from 8 a.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. in the church.
