Charles Edmond Dobbs, 81, of Robinson, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at the Waco V.A. Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco. Charles was born in Waco, Texas, to the late George and Martha Dobbs. He served with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6008 in Hewitt. He loved to be with friends and family. He also loved to dance. Charles was known as "Cherokee Charlie" to his friends. He and his wife owned an local entertainment establishment for several years where all were welcomed. There, he would often show-off his talents singing and dancing. His favorite song was "For The Good Times" and that is exactly what he did - HAD A GOOD TIME. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Dobbs; and three sisters. Survivors include his children, Ann Griffin and husband, Wes, of Valley Mills, Charles W. Dobbs and wife, Carolyn, of Crawford, Carol Culverhouse and husband, Barry, of Waco, Robert Dobbs and wife, Angel, of Robinson, and Roy Dobbs and wife, Terry, of Robinson; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his one-and-only Charlie Zippo (his tuxedo cat).
